Inland Container Terminal

Aitken Spence Logistics pioneered the concept of an Inland Container Terminal, storing and handling containers outside the port of Colombo. We operate the country’s largest inland container terminal comprising three container depots.

With a combined storage capacity of 7,500 TEUs spread across 18 acres of compacted, paved, and bituminized container storage space and a throughput of over 15,000 TEUs every month, we cater to more than 90% of the shipping lines calling the Port of Colombo.

Our operations are supported by a fleet of best-in-class container handling equipment including both empty and laden handlers with a reach of seven and five high respectively.

Storage and Handling of Laden & Empty Containers

We offer storage for empty containers that come in different sizes and types, facilitating efficient equipment control requirements of shipping lines, NVOCCs, and container leasing companies.

Our Inland Container Terminal is geared to store and handle laden containers weighing up to 45 Tons, be it an import or export container awaiting delivery to the factory, warehouse or port.

All our container handling operations are supported by a centralized container management system and around-the-clock security teams with CCTV surveillance.

Our Inland Container Terminal is equipped with 120 reefer plugging points providing the most secure, convenient, and accessible pugging facilities for Reefer containers. The services are complemented by backup generators assuring an uninterrupted power supply to maintain the required temperatures under any circumstances.
